Stay Safe!: Duration: 5 to 6 hours
$45 + HST

Real-world scenarios often call on children to respond to challenges. The Stay Safe! program teaches applicable and age-appropriate skills, while increasing and reinforcing a youth’s capacity to improve his or her own safety. Whether in their community or on their own, this group will be given better tools to Stay Safe! in a variety of different situations. Prerequisite: Age 9-13 Course Content: Importance of responsibility and respect while being accountable for yourself Importance of setting and following rules around safety when staying on your own How to stay safe at home and within the community How to prepare, recognize and respond to unexpected situations, (i.e. inclement weather, strangers, unanticipated visits) First Aid Content: Check, Call, Care (includes phoning EMS/911), recovery position, conscious choking (adult/child/alone), feeling unwell, asthma (includes use of inhaler and spacer), anaphylaxis (includes use of EpiPen), poisoning, insect stings, wound care (i.e. minor cuts and scrapes, splinters, nosebleeds, bumps and bruises, life-threatening bleeding, burns) Take-Home Material: Stay Safe! Emergency First Aid & CPR "C": 7.5 hours in-class

Basic one-day course offering lifesaving first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills for the workplace or home. Course meets legislation requirements for provincial/territorial worker safety and insurance boards and includes the latest first aid and CPR guidelines. Instructor: Red Cross First Aid Instructor Completion: Ability to comprehend and successfully demonstrate all required skills, including critical steps; 100% attendance and participation; 75% min. passing grade on a written, closed book knowledge evaluation and adherence to the Fundamental Principles. Certification: 3 year certification in Emergency First Aid and CPR Level A or C Recertification: Where provincial/territorial legislation allows; 4-5 hours; for Emergency First Aid & CPR Level A or C. Blended Emergency First Aid & CPR: 4 hours online learning, 3-4 hours teaching time.

Courses on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) provide the skills needed to recognize and respond to cardiovascular emergencies and choking for adults, children, and babies depending on the level of CPR chosen. All include training in the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). Courses offer training suitable for workplace or general interest. Includes the latest CPR guidelines. Overview: Regulations and proper training, proper documentation, safety marks and means of containment, forbidden goods, exemptions and special provisions as well as, immediate reporting and procedures to follow in the event of an emergency. Please Note: Although this is a nationally recognized course, if you are currently unemployed and seeking employment it is up to your new employer to accept any prior training. They may still require you to re-train once hired.

whmis course 2015  - online
$45.00 + HsT

Overview: 2015 legislation and meets the legislated requirement for general WHMIS training. Employers must also provide workplace-specific training and instruction for each of the hazardous products in the workplace.
Course Duration: This online course is self-paced.  Completion will be on average  2 hours

Psychological first aid: Caring for Others – Non-certification(E/F)
$20.00 + HST

  • This online course assists learners in developing a personal understanding of the effects of stress, loss, trauma and grief on others. Learners will be introduced to the Red Cross Look, Listen, Link, Live model and will learn how to support others to cope with the effects of various types of stress. This course can also be taken in combination with the Red Cross Self-Care online course to supplement and strengthen an overall wellness education program.

Psychological First Aid: Self-care – Non certification (E/F)   
$20.00 + HST

This online course assists learners in developing a personal understanding of the effects of stress, loss, trauma and grief, with emphasis on self-care and personal protection. Learners will be introduced to the Red Cross Look, Listen, Link, Live model and will learn how to cope with the effects of various types of stress. This course can also be taken in combination with the Red Cross Caring for Others online course to supplement and strengthen an overall wellness education program.

Bloodborne pathogens - Online

Overview: exposed to blood and body fluids or items contaminated with blood during the performance of their work and who wish to gain a basic understanding of blood-borne pathogens.Course Duration: On average, the course will take between 3 – 4 hours to complete

Lock-out/tag-out - online

Overview: Lockout/Tagout explains the importance of Lockout/Tagout in protecting the health and safety of workers. The course examines basic workplace safety tenets and examines the specific stages and procedures of the Lockout/Tagout process. The basic tenets of safety are explained as are the specific stages and procedures of the Lockout-Tagout process.
Duration: On average, the course will take between 1.5 - 3 hours to complete.ing your own words.

medical terminology - online

Overview: Introduction to the professional language used by those who are directly and indirectly involved with the art of healing. The course will also introduce those not currently involved in the health care environment with an introduction to the language of medicine. In addition, the program will provide participants with the basics of human anatomy and physiology.
Course Duration: Average, the course will take between 12 - 24 hours to complete.
